DESPERATION STALKS , BEHIND GERMAN LINES Using Prisoners to DigTrenches and So Relieve More Germans For Fighting Lines. MISS 1)1111' is soi diver ACCORDING TO PRESS REPORT FROM NORTH AND SOUTH AMERICA AND SHE IS HAND SOME TOO One of the most interesting feat ures of the spring festival next week, it 18 said, is the fancy, ac robatic and high diving of Miss Mar Raret Quincy, who is described by those who know her well as fol lows: "A blue-ejed blond of medium height, rather reserved in manner, is Miss Quinncy, but with a friend ly smile that li'ihts up her face con tlnually ." When a tiny child she loved the water und to go to the seashore and wear a hathlng suit most of the time, so that she might p'ay arnon the waves was her delight. That fondness for. water and.wa-. ter sports haB increased with time until to-day Margaret Qnlncy is con siilered a record breaker in tills line. She has h-avelled all over the II nlted States, giving wonderful ex hibitions of her skill and South A merlean newspapers gave much space to her praise during a tour of that country she made with her brother. Now Miss Quincy Is the feature free act with J. F. Murphy's American Shows which come tn Elizabeth City for the Chamber of Commerce Spring Fes tival all next week . She gives u series of fancy and acrobatic dives from the springboard and her shape ly form rouses considerable envy in the hearts of her less fortunate sisters. "But the climax enmes when she climbs the hundred foot perpendicu lar ladder, and makes a dive of ninety i Uht feet Into a tank contain Ins three feet of water. Kvery afternoon except Monday, and everv eva nltiK during the week this feur less, dever girl will appear In her marvelous fejits of swlmmiin: and diving and It costs nothing to see her at the h.; spilim festival " oy william PHILLIP SIMMS With British Armiea Afield Ano' ther mile of the Hlndenbura; Unf was 'captured by the British twlajr, southeast of the Cocjal river. Scores of captured trench defenders and transport drlrOTt were pressed into service today around Fampoux and Hyderbad hi doubt where the Btltish smash bit the hardest.
